sprained ankle

Alex sprained his ankle yesterday morning playing basketball. He went to shoot a lay-up and when he came down he stepped on someone's foot and rolled his ankle. It is pretty swollen today and he can hardly walk. On the bright side, it's been kind of nice to spend the day together, it's a rainy day so no work for me, and he can't walk... sooo no work for him either! Happy Friday!

19 week bump update!

How far along? 19 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 6 pounds!
Maternity clothes? Sweats and leggings... everyday! I'm really glad leggings are totally normal to wear around these days!
Stretch marks? Yes... dang it! But, I have burt's bee's mama bee honey oil and their mama bee's belly butter and I think we've got things under control now! Plus, the oil smells heavenly!!
Sleep: This week Alex decided we sleep too much. We go to bed soo early but I am really tired all the time! I haven't been getting up to pee in the night anymore though, thank goodness!
Best moment this week: realizing that I am almost halfway there.. BOOM!
Movement: so much movement this week! I love feeling her move all the time! I also put my really big anatomy book on my belly this week and i think she felt smooshed! She was not having any of that! She was moving around so much ha. So I did it a few more times, selfish i know, but feeling her move is too fun!
Food cravings: Not really, I am starting to like food again though, I kind of started hating meal time for a while and it seems like my meal portions are more where they were before i was pregnant. For a while I would eat close to nothing and be full!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Patient's and skunk smell.
Have you started to show yet: Yes! Not too much though. I'm still waiting for the bump look. I feel like i am still in the not quite belly bump, you just look kinda fat stage ha.
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! Thinks are going great! I am feeling so much better. I still have sciatic pain but luckily that comes and goes!
Looking forward to:  My 20 Week ultrasound this week!

My little brother and sister had some fun with my chalkboard sign this week ha, my little sister missionaries loved getting these pics!

18 week bump update (yes, i skipped week 17, oops!!)

How far along? 18 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: probably three or four pounds, not really sure!
Maternity clothes? Still rockin' the leggings, yoga pants, and sweatpants!
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Still sleeping great - minus the frequent trips to the bathroom.
Best moment this week: Since I skipped my 17 week update the best moment was feeling her move the first time. That was during week 17! January 12th to be exact. I was sitting in Sunday School and I felt three distinct little movements like nothing I have felt before! It was the greatest, I couldn't wipe the smile off my face!
Miss Anything?
Movement: Yes, not a ton but every now and then I can feel little movements!
Food cravings: DONUTS! Just plain ol' chocolate donuts. & french fries but i don't eat those very often, although they do sounds good, always!
Anything making you queasy or sick: I can't get over the stinky patients. They make me want to puke.
Have you started to show yet: It kind of depends on what I am wearing! In this tight hoodie you can totally tell but when I am wearing scrubs you can't tell at all!
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! I'm starting to throw up a whole lot less!
Looking forward to: More movement! There is nothing better then feeling her wiggle around!

sisters

I've lost all my sisters to missionary work. I am so proud of them, but sometimes I am sad for myself! Having three little sisters on missions is hard! I still have Sadie, Mikelle, and Heidi, but I still really miss Abbey, Mitzi, and Macey! Heidi got these cute hoodies for us and I love it! It is so comfy! I love my sister-in-laws they are so good to me, I couldn't have handpicked a better bunch! I love you all!

16 week bump update

How far along? 16 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: two pounds gained
Maternity clothes? still just rocking the maternity leggings so far
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Sleeping great, minus waking up to pee every night at 3 am.
Best moment this week: finding out that we are having a girl!!
Movement: Not yet!
Food cravings: French Fries, sweet potato fries, anything greasy. It's so awful ha. I don't eat them very often but they always sound good!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Stinky patients, and when people smoke near me it makes me feel so sick!!
Have you started to show yet: Still just a little bump.
Gender prediction: At first I thought it was a girl and I kept having dreams about it being a little girl. For example, I dreamed that we were at Lake Powell and I woke up in the night to a crying babe. So i went and got the baby out of the crib and it was a little girl in a cute little swimsuit! Then I looked over and there was a rattlesnake in our room! Dreams are so weird. But then I was totally convinced it was a boy. The greasy food craving and the heartbeat was always on track with a boy so I was soo surprised when the tech told us it was a girl. In the beginning Alex really wanted it to be a boy, then after a few weeks he starting realllyyy wanting a girl & he has kind of thought it was a girl ever since. He was so right, and we are both thrilled!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! Still sick which is such a bummer! I am sick of throwing up, but I would rather be throwing up than dealing with the sciatic pain. That is the worst! Please go away soon!!
Looking forward to: Feeling movement & finally being able to do some shopping! I am also working on the nursery and being sooo picky, oops!

It's a... GIRL!

Our ultrasound appointment was on January 2nd, 2013. I had an appointment earlier that day, and then Alex and I went to the ultrasound appointment together at 12:30. They had me drink quite a bit of water before the appointment and i was convinced that i was going to pee! Of course the first thing she does is push on my bladder so hard ha I thought i was going to lose it! Next we looked at the skull and the brain. Our babies brain was symmetrical (good news!) and was measuring just as it should. Then we looked at lots of fingers and toes. The screen wasn't that great of quality so we couldn't really count, but there were plenty, i think! ;) We looked at the spine and at all the bones. It was incredible. I was amazing that i could so clearly see the radius and unla and the tibia and fibula. Our baby is teeny, yet everything was forming just as it should. I don't know if i have ever been so grateful in my life. Then it was time to find out if we were having a little boy or a little girl! The tech said, " wow! This baby is being very cooperative, do you guys want to know what you are having?" Of course we said yes, and she said "it's a girl!" I was immediately overwhelmed and excited and i can't even describe how I felt. I teared up a little bit and the tech said, "If i would have said it was a boy, would you have still cried?" I said yes, and she said, "you seem like the type!" That made me laugh and I was grateful that she was so kind to us. I think my favorite thing was watching Alex's face when she said it was a girl. I don't know if i have ever seen him smile so big. He is one proud dad, and my heart might have exploded. I am so grateful she was cooperative, my prayers were answered! We were finding out weeks earlier than we should have, oops! I am so excited to meet our little girl, and I have never seen anything more perfect! I love you little girl, and I am so excited to be your mom!

As soon as we got through at our appointment we hurried over to foot locker to get some purple Nike Frees. Alex has been eyeing them up for quite a while ha! He loves little girl shoes and I catch him shopping online quite a bit! Then we went to sportsman's to find some camo. Alex had an idea a couple weeks ago to get camo and pink and put the camo on top so when my dad opened it he would think it was a boy, then he would pull out the pink. We had everyone else open the purple Nike's. It was a really fun way to tell our family. Sorry for the overload of pictures. I have a hard time choosing, so i'll just post them all!
 My dad thought twins! Oops!
My mom had already made cupcakes, but she was prepared with pink and blue frosting ha. She also had pink lemonade and blue kool-aid ready to make!
After the boys opened up the shoes Jett ran upstairs and came back down with a pair of socks. He put his socks on then tried and tried to get the shoes on his feet. He thought they were for him! We felt kind of bad but it was hilarious. Linc was being a little bit shy and didn't want to get a picture with us! It also must be documented that Ace wants us to name our baby Turnip SO BAD. He truly loves the name. Since we haven't chosen a name yet the Hafen family refers to her as turnip ha. I'm afraid this little one already has a nickname.
We love you little girl!
I may have found this outift at T.J. Maxx for $20.00 and I might be a little obsessed. Little girls are too fun!

new years eve!

New Years Eve is almost always spent up at my aunt and uncle's cabin in Pine Valley. We started the night off with navajo tacos & scones for dessert. YUM! Then we played lots of games. We played the name game, mad-gab, and lots of others. Before we had dinner I had this awesome idea that i was going to reach my new years resolution of getting my blog caught up. I got about five blog posts done in maybe twenty minutes and I was way excited about reaching my goal before midnight! Then I got to our California trip where i had lots of pictures to post. I forget that the connection up there is pretty bad and it took a little over four hours to get all those pictures uploaded. What a joke! I felt pretty bad that we stayed at their cabin so late, but i didn't want to leave and have wasted all that time! I obviously didn't reach my goal since I am just doing the last post today... twenty days later! At least i got it done! We had a great night, and we surprised ourselves by making it till midnight! Bring on 2014!

jessica's bridal shower

Nicole and I decided to throw a bridal shower for Jessica the day after Christmas. It was so fun to get all of our friends together, we don't get to see each other all that often! It was really fun we played some games, ate donuts and hot chocolate, opened presents, and just talked! It turned out really great! I am so excited for Jessica she is going to make the most gorgeous bride!
