for grandpa

Sunday was Kaleb's 15th Birthday. We were going to have a really great day! Alex and I didn't have church until 1:00 so we kind of just hung out during the morning. It was a beautiful day outside and we love our Sunday mornings together, we don't get to see each other too often during the week. We love Sundays. We got all ready for church and showed up at 1:00. No one was there. Hello Tori! It was stake conference and we had completely missed it. Oops. We had even talked about it in our YW meeting on Wednesday. I have completely lost my mind. Since we didn't have church we went home and changed and went over to my parents house. We were having a birthday dinner for Kaleb. Prime rib roast, mashed potatoes, asparagus, rolls, salad, and pie! Yum! 5:00 rolled around and everyone was ready to eat, except my grandpa hadn't shown up yet. He is always early, where was he? He was a little confused the night before on what time the dinner was supposed to be so we figured he would be there by 5:30 and that we might as well eat. Dinner came and went, Alex and I had to leave since I had new beginnings for my Young Women that night, and I had to go early to set up. Around 7:00 my parents decided that they should drive over and check on my grandpa since he never showed up to dinner and he wasn't answering his phone. As they were getting off the freeway my mom said she felt sick to her stomach, and my dad said he felt the same. They got to his house and noticed the front porch light on as well as the TV. My dad had my mom stay in the car just in case. After knocking and ringing the doorbell my dad finally let himself in. He found my grandpa in the bathroom. He must have been getting in the shower the night before and passed out as he was getting in the shower, but this time, he didn't wake up. My dad found him hunched over the bathtub and the shower curtain had been pulled down. My mom looked inside and saw my dad get a blanket and cover him up since he wasn't dressed. My dad came out to the car and just shook his head. They called the police who came and took it from there. I was at New Beginnings when my mom called me. I didn't answer, and I wondered why she would be trying to call, she knew I was at New Beginnings. I texted her and said the program was still going on. Her reply, "Grandpa's dead." I immediately lost it. How did this happen? He wasn't sick, he hadn't been in the hospital, he just simply didn't show up for dinner. I immediately left and Alex and I went over to my grandpa's house even though my mom had told me not too. I didn't know what else to do. We ended up taking my mom home and leaving my dad with the police. My dad didn't want my mom to see her dad being carried out of his house in a body bag so he waited until they came to pick him up, then he locked up the house and came home. The last couple days have been hard. It was really unexpected and i think that's the hardest part. I am so grateful that he has made his way back to the temple. I know he has been reunited with his parents and other family that have already made their way to heaven. I'm grateful for my grandpa and for all the support he has shown us. He didn't miss any activity of anyones and he loved his grandkids more than anything. I will miss you grandpa, I love you!

kort's bridal shower

Kort is getting married on March 8th & Paige and I decided to throw her a bridal shower. Katelyn made the invites and they turned out so cute! Kate and I met up with Sam a few weeks before and videoed him answering questions about him and Kort, it was so fun. We had pizza factory bowtie chicken salad, breadsticks, fruit, veggies, and cupcakes, it was soo good! We ate, and talked, we opened presents, and played the game where Kort would try and answer the questions we asked Sam the same way he did. That game always makes for a good laugh! I am so excited for you Kort, love you so much!

Valentines Day!

We kind of spoiled our own Valentines Day this year. Alex got himself a watch a few weeks before so I told him he couldn't wear it until Valentines ha, easy for me, i'm not complaining! Alex got me a Petunia Pickle Bottom Diaper Bag it came in the mail maybe five days before Valentines Day and he just wanted me to open it right then, he was soo excited about it ha.
I worked the morning of Valentines & Alex did homework. After I got home Alex went to the driving range with one of his friends and then we did a seafood boil at my parents house. It had sausage, corn, shrimp, and potatoes in it, YUM! Then we had cheesecake for dessert! After dinner we went to Snow Canyon's basketball game and it was kind of lame, they lost by quite a bit! After the game Alex and I went to Nelson's Frozen Custard, our very favorite. Alex got bumbleberry and I got chocolate almond. We pick those two every time, they are the best flavors! Then we went home and watched the all-star game. We are sooo romantic ha.

22 weeks!

How far along? 22 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 9 lbs.
Maternity clothes? Nope! My scrubs are getting a little bit tighter though! I might have to get a new top!

Sleep: Sleeping great
Best moment this week: The night before Valentines Alex and I were babysitting our nephews. After we put the boys to bed we were just laying on the couch talking. Our baby was moving around quite a bit and we just laid on the couch and watched my belly move around. Alex finally got to feel her wiggling around. I have been dying to give him a chance to see how amazing it really is! I couldn't have asked for a better Valentines present!

Movement: Lots of movement! I can't really feel her moving around during the day, I think because I am so busy doing other things but whenever i get a minute to sit/lay down she immediately starts moving.
Food cravings: I just miss drinking Diet Coke. I haven't completely eliminated it, but I drink very little of it. I kind of hate it ha.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I have acid reflux pretty bad and I don't know what is causing it!
Have you started to show yet: Yes!
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In. I'm not sure that it will ever go out, which is fine by me.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: happy as a clam
Looking forward to: gettting this little girl here!! June can't come soon enough!!

There is no belly picture this week! The hot glue wasn't doing it's job so Alex thought he would put a few screws in it for me. He might have picked screws that were too long and they went right through my board. I was kind of sad, but we will put some shorter ones in and paint over it & that will have to do.

While I was laying on the couch I videoed my belly ha. You can see three little movements on the right side of my belly. They are small but she sure was wiggling around!

Best moment this week: On Saturday when I got home from work Alex had taken the bed out of our guest bedroom and we got to set up the crib together! It was so exciting! Now I just need to get the bedding done!
Movement: baby girl moves all day long & I love it so much!! Everyone was right when they said it is the best part of pregnancy.
Food cravings: Chocolate and Diet Coke. Two things that cause acid reflux which I have had a lot of lately. So it seems like I always want those two things but I can't have either of them.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Eating right when I wake up makes me sick!
Have you started to show yet: Yes

Valentines Week!

Since it is Valentines week I decided to share some of my favorite Valentine's projects. The first I made from a deck of cards. I sanded each card down to make them look a little bit distressed. I punch holes in the sides and put rings two rings in the sides. Then I typed up & printed the reasons why I loved my husband & backed them on a red sparkle card stock paper. I put in some random staples and bows just to add a little bit to it! The next project was soo easy! I picked up a few paint samples from Lowe's and got a little heart punch. I punched them out and then strung them with a needle and thread. Very simple but it's one of my favorites!

I am linking this post up at Make It & Love It!

20 week ultrasound

I went in for my normal OB appointment on Wednesday this week. We listened to the heartbeat - 146 perfect!! The doctor would go back and forth from my heartbeat to hers and it was amazing how much faster hers was than mine. After my appointment the doctor wanted me to schedule my 20 week ultrasound. Well all the open slots for the next week were all during my classes. My schedule is really hard to work around. Then she asked what I was doing right then. I didn't have anything going the rest of the day, so she snuck me in! I tried to call Alex but I couldn't get ahold of him until after the ultrasound was already over. The ultrasound was amazing. The tech knew I was a radiography student so we went over all sorts of anatomy that she normally wouldn't do with everyone. We saw that she had two kidneys, a stomach, a bladder, all her vertebra, and they were neatly lined up, yay! Her cerebellum was measuring 1.93 which is crazy because I was 19 weeks and 3 days! The tech said the cerebellum is always really close to how far along you are until 24 weeks but we were exactly on! She was being a little bit of a sass during this ultrasound. She had her ankles crossed and her arm draped over her face, she looked so relaxed, it was so funny. We had to get measurements of her head but she wasn't very willing to move and her head was so far down. But after some convincing (pushing on my bladder, i thought i was going to pee my pants) she finally moved and we were able to get measurements of her head. There is nothing i love more than ultrasounds. I LOVE seeing that sweet little girl!
We had to get a side profile picture, check out that belly!! Also notice the arm draped over the face ha:)
The tech turned on the 3D machine for a minute so we could see what on earth she was doing with the umbilical cord. That is one cute face!
You can't see her face very well in this picture but it is a prime picture of her belly and hands ha!
